Orthoceras is a genus of the now extinct nautiloid cephalopods that lived during the Devonian period approximately 370 million years ago. Their name means "straight horn" which refers to their characteristic straight, long, conical shell. The preserved shell is all that remains of them today.

Orthoceras lived in their shell and had tenicles that were used to grab their food and for squirting water for jet propulsion to enable them to move.
