Common Opal is a hydrated silica mineral with a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5. It is opaque and does not display the fire/colour play that can be seen on precious Opal. It can be found in various colours, such as, green, beige, purple, pink, brown, black, yellow, orange, red, blue and white.
Metaphysically, Common Opal vibrates at a lower frequency and has a more gentle intensity than the transparent or fiery Opal's but this enhances the soothing and calming effects it has on one's emotional body. Black and brown Opal's are protective stones that are said to be a gentle catalyst to healing processes through their support of the emotional body. They are said to help one recieve more life force and creative energies through gently stimulating the first two chakras.
Common Opal can stimulate originality and creativity and aids in accessing and expressing one's true self, as well as enhance cosmic consciousness and induce psychic and mystical visions.
