Moonstone is a variety of feldspar, a potassium aluminum silicate mineral. It has a monoclinic crystal system and a hardness of 6 - 6.5. It can be found in Australia, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Burma, USA & India. Moonstone was named after is pearl like sheen.
Metaphysically, Moonstone is considered a sacred stone amongst many cultures. In India, it was said to hold a special significance for lovers and is believed to allow one to see into their future by placing the stone in your mouth. In European cultures Moonstone was said to aid reconciliation of estranged lovers and to aid sleeplessness.
Moonstone is the stone of the High Priestess, the keeper of feminine mysteries. It is believed that in it's reflected light, one can project and observe hidden truths that reside deep within themselves. Moonstone is used as a talisman for inward journeying and can aid past life recall.
